Hi, can anyone explain this to me. I get an err.number = 9 after the line that asigns a value to rng. However I got no pop up window saying an error has occured.

Code:
Sub test()

    Dim rng As Range

    On Error GoTo 0

    Set rng = Range("A1")

    MsgBox "Err.Number = " & Err.Number
    rng.Value = 1 'no error popup appears
    MsgBox "Err.Number = " & Err.Number
End Sub

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.
Hi

Do you have any event code behind this sheet/ThisWorkbook that might be responding to the cell value change and generating the error?

Ah!

Removing Addins one by one sorted the problem. There must have been an Addin with events that was screwing things up.

Thank you.
