Hi all,

I need to download a few hundred excel files from a cloud-based database that when downloading, gives the workbook name a random number/name. If I open the workbook, the correct file name is located in cell A1. Is there anyway to auto rename each workbook to the value in cell A1, so that I do not have to manually rename each one and I can just spend my time downloading each file from the cloud?

Many thanks in advance!

/m

I'd say no, not directly, because you can't rename a file when it's open. You could loop through a folder of files, get the file name being opened, open it, get the value from A1, close it and rename "old name" as A1.value
