Hi
I need a formula to calculate the business hours taken to complete a job.
The job runs over a few days but only during business hours.
I have calculated the time difference by subtracting the the 2nd date time from the 1st but that gives me total hours, i need just the business hours calculated.
I will need to exclude hours from 16:30- 08:00 and weekends aswell.

start Date in cell A1-> 2011/09/01 08:00
end date in cell A2-> 2011/09/05 16:30

business hours-> Monday - Friday 08:00 - 16:30
how many business hours have i taken to complete the job?

Excel Facts

Test for Multiple Conditions in IF?
Use AND(test, test, test, test) or OR(test, test, test, ...) as the logical_test argument of IF.
This works, remeber to format the cell to a number with the result in it

Those formulas work as long as the start time is always 08:00 and then end time is always 16:30. If that's not the case then you need an amendment to take the times into account, i.e.

=NETWORKDAYS(A1,A2)*8.5+(MOD(A2,1)-MOD(A1,1))*24
