initiate a Find and Replace
open options
The "Look in" drop down field defaults to formulas.
I wish to change the default to "values."

Thanks,

Excel Facts

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
A replace operation will only work with formulas as the option.

ok, but I wasn't replacing anything. I was trying to find something, and every time I do, which is quite frequent, I have to change that parameter. Does anyone ever try to 'find' a formula? I don't even know how you'd do that. But no matter, is there a way to default the find tab, if you must, to look in values instead of formulas?

It should persist between find operations in the same excel session, but there is no way to change the default. Note that the formulas option also works with literal values, not just actual formulas.

Solution
ok, so once I set it in the current session it will stay that way for the remainder of the session.
And it works for values as well as formulas.
Thanks.
