Cannot delete record error

So I have this D/B in 2003, I have several peoples names listed under the Tech filed, and some are no longer with us I wish to delete this records but I cannot because it says

The Record cannot be deleted or changed because the table 'Main' includes related records.

Any help or would you need the db file?

there are rows in Main that are related to the techs you want to delete

you would have to delete those rows first


just as if you had a table of students and another table of classes, you wouldn't be able to delete someone from the student table if they're enrolled in a class

you would have to take them out of the class first

are you absolutely sure you want to delete those rows ?
sometimes its better just to have an extra field
CURRENTLY_EMPLOYED yes/no
or
DATE_TERMINATED datetime

and then select only techs that are currently employed or where date_terminated is null

Scratch that Idea, I am going to recreate the DB, but now what I want to do is be able to hide the other names from the form such as this

I have Jim Bob Dave and Bill, when we pull up the form now that dave is gone, I dont want Dave to be able to be selected but I still want all of his records in the main database and excel spreadsheet
