Can't enter text in excel

Hello;

I just created a new excel workbook, copied the header information from an older spreadsheet into it and now cannot enter any text into any cell beneath the header row. What am I doing wrong?? Any and all assistance is appreciated, thank you!

Do you get any messages? do you have any sheet protection? have you ran any VBA which has erred and so not completed?

No Sir, not that I know of. First time I tried to enter text I received an"end mode" notification at the lower left of the screen, but after I deleted that workbook and started again I did not.
