Car show ballot counting.

First off I'm new to Excel so please be easy on me. I know basic auto sum and using = to start adding etc. very basic stuff.
I'm trying to make vote counting easier at our car show that has about 120 cars with 30 classes. Each class has 1st 2nd and 3rd.
So if class
A = 1967 Pontiac firebird Convertibles
B= 1968 Pontiac firebird Convertibles
c= 1969 Pontiac firebird Convertibles
d= 1970-1976 Pontiac Trans Ams

Class A has 9 cars. A1,A2,A3........
Class B has 7 cars ....

Does anyone have a spread sheet already that I can just change the names on to where I can just click on a cell with a number and it adds that number.
Like if someone calls out A-3 (4) times and A-5 2 times and A 9 1 time and A 8 5 times it will automatically figure 1 st 2nd and 3rd.

It sounded easy until I tried putting it together!!! Yikes!!!
