Chart

I have two rows of data - one the year 1980-2002, the other row is average age in each year. I want a bar chart displaying age year by year. Year being the x axis and age on the y axis. I do not want the year in bars on the chart. When I select the two rows of data, I get age and year plotted in bars. If I eliminate year, I can't get the year listed on my x axis but the age bars look correct. I have the same problem even if I switch chart type. How do I chart or graph what is essentially one row of data.
