charting

I have 2 columns -- ColA dates for a couple of years
Col B numbers

I want to make simple chart showing the curves in the data showing some time dates

I tried to make up a line chart but made a mess of it & then couldn't delete it

one chart I have seen showed the date at the point the cursor was placed but that may be complicated to make-- some dates across the bottom would be fine -- KISS

all suggestions appreciated
