Collapsible Tabs - is it possible

I know how to collapse rows and columns. Is there a way to collapse tabs? For example, Lets say I have a document with 30 tabs. For my purposes, it's too many to have viewable at the same time. Six of them fit into one group or category, four fit into another seven into another and so on. Is there a way I can collapse them in the same way I can for rows or columns? Hiding tabs doesn't accomplish what I'm looking for.

I don't think it's possible to collapse tabs, but there are a few work arounds.

You can right click on the small arrows to the left of the tabs. See:
