Hi all,

I would like to know whether i can use conditional formating in the following case

12/06/2010 Service tax 100
Income tax 50
13/06/2010 Service tax 50
14/09/2010 Service Tax 30

I would like to know whether i can apply alternate colors to the rows starting with each date.

Regards.

Excel Facts

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
What are the conditions that would change the color row to row? You can only have 3 conditions in Excel 2003 and earlier and 5 in 2007. Not sure about 2010 though.

Thanks,

I do have only one condition i.e Rows which contains any date..It should be colored indicating that it is a new transaction.

Hello VoG sir,

I remember you forwarding the same link few days back. I have gone through the above link before posting this query.

I am missing the logic here. i.e Row Wich contains any date.

I tried =Mod(Row(),2) but it could color only the alternate rows.

Thanks.

Maybe like this: select the entire range then apply the CF

Excel Workbook
ABC
112/06/2010Service tax100
2Income tax50
313/06/2010Service tax50
414/09/2010Service tax30
515/09/2010Tax25
Sheet59
Cells with Conditional Formatting
CellConditionCell FormatStop If True
A11. / Formula is =AND(MOD(ROW(),2),ISNUMBER($A1))Abc

In Excel 2007 and later the only limit is system resources. There is no number limit.

I need to convince my boss to get 2007!
If you've never seen it or used it (Excel 2007) there's a huge learning curve!

This is just my opinion...

About Excel 2007 and its expanded conditional formatting capabilities...

Yeah, the expanded features are absolutely great and were sorely needed but they (MS) completely screwed up the conditional formatting user interface. It SUCKS!
