ComboBox Strange behaviour with Greek Text

I have a combo-box, (using as a Dictionary lookup) which looks up a column of Greek text.
When it is in the selction window, many of the characters show as ?; thus commonly the greek α shows as ?.

When selected in the window the text looks ok, but once the user comes out of the combo box into the rest of the sheet, the text reverts to mostly ?????. I have tried all fonts, including those which work in the spreadsheet itself and show fine as Greek text.

Does anyone have any ideas on what is happening? Is there a way to make the Combobox work correctly with Unicode text?

thanks

Name Manager, New Name. Yesterday =TODAY()-1. OK. Then, use =YESTERDAY in any cell. Tomorrow could be =TODAY()+1.
