Command Button has locked me out of everything

Shortly after adding an ActiveX command button, the default "embed" formula [ =embed("Forms.CommandButton.1","") ] was accidentally removed. I suddenly couldn't click anywhere on the spreadsheet without seeing the "Reference is not valid" error message. Most menu options and functions are grayed out. I can't even close the spreadsheet to revert to my previous version. I seem to be completely locked out of everything unless I satisfy something, but I can't do anything to get to that point. Even if I type the default formula back in, trying to exit out results in this message: "We found a problem with this formula. We couldn't find a range reference or a defined name." Please help me get unstuck.

Fastest way to copy a worksheet?
Hold down the Ctrl key while dragging tab for Sheet1 to the right. Excel will make a copy of the worksheet.
I'm sorry, nevermind. After resorting to CTRL-ALT-DEL for some relief, it appears a macro from another workbook was at fault -- somehow locking me out of all workbooks, even though I hadn't been in it for a while. Strange.
