Hi

I'm wondering if it's possible to put some code into a CommandButton_Click event that will pause (or stop) the presently running code and open the VBE?

Cheers

Hi,

Yes, the Stop keyword will work provided the VBA project isn't password protected.

Rich (BB code):
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()

    'do some stuff

    Stop 'code execution will pause here

    'do some stuff

End Sub
Another way would be to conditionally pause execution using Debug.Assert:
Rich (BB code):
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()

    'do some stuff

     Debug.Assert False 'code execution will pause here

    'do some stuff

End Sub

Hope that helps...

You're welcome. :)

quick Q - does ThisWorkBook.Close call the WorkBook.BeforeClose event?
Quick A: yes, provided that Application.EnableEvents is set to true.

Long A: BUT! If that event is raised from your code (ie. ThisWorkBook.Close) rather than the user closing the workbook from the main Excel interface, you will not be able to call workbook object methods (eg. ThisWorkbook.Save) from within the event handler. What do you intend to use it for, you may need to be careful?
