I have a spreadsheet which categorizes safety incidents into 4 levels of harm 1,2,3,4. I wish to analyze content by level of harm. in essence I want to be able to perform a count that gives me total number of incidents at harm level 1, harm level 2, etc.
the cells I wish to perform this function on are S17, S20, S23, S26, S29. Is it possible to create a formula that performs a count based on the cell content? This is only include the cell in the count if it contains a specific value. I hope I have explained myself adequately.

Many thanks

Craig

Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
try:
Code:
=countif(a:a,"1")
you could have a validated list from 1-4 that the countif to reference to or have 4 seperate formuales.
