I have a timeline the teams previously cut and paste color code phases of the project (planning, build, requirements, develop, etc.). I developed a workbook with a formula page that the timeline now works off start and stop dates of the phases. I have a formula page of =if(and identifying each phase numerically if true statements. This is fine.

The problem is I'm applying conditional formatting which works fine on each line for example:

plan - green
req - blue
develop - purple

what at my goal is is to have conditional formatting horizontal, like a Gantt chart on the actual Timeline sheet: Plan (green), req (blue), develop (purple). . . Each phase is color-coded. Is this at all possible?

I've in cond. form. Going to New Rule enter =destination=source=3

Excel Facts

What does custom number format of ;;; mean?
Three semi-colons will hide the value in the cell. Although most people use white font instead.
First, highlight all the columns you want to be highlighted with a color, then go to Conditional Formatting, go to "Use a formula to determine which cells to format", and assuming the 'keyword' is located in the 'A' column, type the following:

=$A1="PLAN" for the Plan keyword

Then go to format, Fill, then choose your color. Repeat this process for all keywords.

Just update the above formula to represent the correct column ($B1, $C1, etc).
