If in cell c17 I type or paste the word "critical". It highlights that cell red. It also highlights d17:u17 red as well using (Use a formula to determine which cells to format).
The formula is =c17="critical". This works fine unless I type in "This is critical" in cell c17. All the other cells (d17:u17) the red highlight disappears. How can I fix that?

Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
Use this formula instead:
Code:
=ISNUMBER(FIND("critical",C17))
