How do I convert time to a numeric value? I have tried the "TIMEVALUE" function and get an error message. Is there a way to do this by manual formula?

Excel's time values are stored as fractions of a day. If you need to convert a time such as 11:24 AM into hours, minutes or seconds merely multiply by 24, 1440 or 86400 respectively, and then format the results using a desired number format to get 11.4 hours, 684 minutes or 41,040 seconds.
