Hey,

I have a list of dates, and would like to transform them into seasons (0=Winter, 1=Spring, 2=Summer, 3=Fall)

do you know how to do this?

Excel Facts

What is the last column in Excel?
Excel columns run from A to Z, AA to AZ, AAA to XFD. The last column is XFD.
Hi & Welcome to the Board!

Please can you define from and to dates for all your seasons so that we can provide a solution. Thanks!

thanks for your quick reply:

the datas are in the following format:
Day.Monty.Year (24.22.08) -> all dates are from 2008, German format

I want them to be converted into:
0 for Dates between 01.01.08 to 28.02.08 + 01.12.08 - 31.12.08
1 for Dates between 01.03.08 to 31.05.08
2 for Dates between 01.06.08 to 31.08.08
3 for Dates between 01.09.08 to 30.11.08

Thanks again and I am excited about your suggestions

Assuming those dates are recognised by Excel as dates (they wouldn't with my Regional Settings as Iam in the UK) then I think the absoulte simplest way of doing this is

=INT(MOD(MONTH(A1),12)/3)

If you have your date in A2 this formula should convert it as you specified

=IF(A2="","",CHOOSE(MONTH(A2),0,0,1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,3,0))
