I have a lot of data in a spreadsheet that someone else has previously done. I am having to refernce it and in order to do this quickly I am using vlookup. The problem is that whoever did this did not put everything in CAPS, which is how engineers typically show text on plans, and I really dont want to have to re-type everthing. Is there a quick way I can get excell or vlookup to do this for me?

Check out the UPPER function. In VBA, it is UCASE.

Hi

You can use UPPER to convert text to all upper-case ie:

=UPPER(A1)

will return the text in A1 to all in uppercase (ie so "abcd" becomes "ABCD").

I believe VLOOKUP is case insensitive, however, so upper/lower shouldn't be giving you any problems on this score.

Thanks the upper function was all I needed. I had no idea of that function. This will definatly prove useful.
