My first post here, so please bear with me. However, I have used your advice many times and I am very appreciative of your help.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I have data in a weekly format that I would like to convert to monthly. Do I need to divide the weekly total by 7 first, then sum for the amount of days in each month, or is there a more efficient way? I have read about using a pivot table for something like this, but I'm not quite following it.

Pivot Table Drill Down
Double-click any number in a pivot table to create a new report showing all detail rows that make up that number
If I'm understanding you correctly then yes, you would need to create your own approximation of what portion of the week from 10/26 thru 11/2 will fall in October and in November.

Probably there is some formula genius on here who could tell you a formula to paste into twelve cells to give you all the totals, but anything I came up with would probably take quite a bit more cells...

I should have stated that I am using 2007. I cant find the show detail option.

With the PT selected, choose Options in the menu, then in the ribbon the Group tab, then "Group Field".

So, i am assuming that this will group anything with the same month together. If I want to be more exact (3 days of a week falling in October, and 4 falling in November), I will probably have to divide each week by 7 and do the math correct?
