When I copy a pivot chart created from data in a pivot table, I can paste it in the same worksheet or another worksheet and it appears to retain its connection to the source data. When the source data changes, both charts update after a refresh. However, when I copy a pivot chart and paste it to another workbook, it converts it to a standard chart and the link to the original pivot table source data is broken. Is there a way to copy a pivot chart to another workbook and retain the link to the pivot table source?

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
Maybe via this trick?
Copy/Paste in same workbook on new sheet. Then move this new sheet to new/other workbook.
