Count if there is an error

I would like to count the errors in an area. My first thought was:

=COUNTIF(A1:B10,Error)

But this doesn't work. What is the appropriate way of doing this?

=SUMPRODUCT(--(ISERROR(A1:B10)))

Hi

the countif can not be used with multiple criteria, just works with the one.

would suggest using the sum product function
=SUMPRODUCT((A1:A10="error type")+(A1:A10="error type")
just amend the ranges and error type to suit
