Can you combine "CountA" with "IF" and how is this done?

I need to find the number of occurrences of a specific word, i.e., "textbook" in a specified group of cells.

Thank you.:)

Prevent GETPIVOTDATA. Select inside a PivotTable. In the Analyze tab of the ribbon, open the dropown next to Options and turn it off
<TABLE id=NestedTable2 class=collapse name="NestedTable2"><TBODY><TR class=trbgodd><TD>=COUNTIF(A2:A5,"apples")</TD><TD>Number of cells with apples in the first column above (2)</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

This was exactly what I needed - it works!!!

Thank you for your speedy reply, MrExcel!!!;)
