how do I create a formula the will count & add the total result from:
D6 in sheet1 of the trending3a file within the progressive folder on the e-drive
with
D6 in sheet1 of the trending3b file within the progressive folder on the e-drive
to
the bankend file
If the result is 0, then the result is blank

Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
i kept playing with it, til I resolve the issue...ty..see below
=('E:\Progressive\[trending3a.xls]sheet1'!$d$6+'E:\Progressive\[trending3b.xls]sheet1'!$d$6)

"If the result is 0, then the result is blank"

...with long file names like that, i'd just stick the results in a cell & either use another formula for that bit:

=if(a1=0,"",a1)

...or set the tools | options | view - window options - zero values setting.
