Hi,

I am a fairly elementary user of Excel so I have been having difficulty creating a formula in Excel, I will try to explain my problem as best I can and any suggestions would be hugely appreciated.

I have a few figures. I am trying to get excel to add VAT (17.5%) to each of the figures to be displayed in the cell directly below te ex-VAT figure. Also I am trying to get the new VAT inc figure to be multipled by 10,000, 15,000 & 20,000 in a separate cells. Any ideas?

I hope this makes some sense :/

Anyone who can help I would be indebted to and would be entirely thankfully.

Cheers for any replies,
Robert

Excel Facts

Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.
Welcome to the forum.

To add 17.5% to a number (assumed to be in cell, A1) you would use:

=A1*1.175

To multiply a cell by 10,000 and have this show up in a different cell (again assuming the initial value is in A1) you would use:

=A1*10000
