i want current date in cell A1 and current time in cell C1 but once these 2 (date & time) are entered once, it should not be changes by closing/opening the sheet. it should stay there forever unless someone change it manually.

i know it might be possible by using =today() & =now() but can't get to the actual formula/logic.

pls!

*Edited:

according to my sheet, i'm using this formula:
=IF(K4<>"",TODAY())
but when i'm copy the same formula where k4 is empty then rather than leaving it blank, its giving value "False"

Excel Facts

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
Ctrl+:
Ctrl+Shift+:

really can't understand... i'm not really good in excel.

(my last post was updated. pls check)

ok... got it.. ctrl+: and ctrl+shift+: will give date and time. (my mistake, that it took me sometime to understand) :)
but i'm checking another cell if it is not empty then i should get date and time automatically....

I can't follow what you're trying to achieve. Can you post a sample of your data and expected output?
