how to make custom number format with adding zero for this below

maximum digit number is 4..

Hello. Try this (it assumes your number is in A3): =TEXT(A3,"0000")

You are welcome and thanks for the feedback. Just be aware that Peter's answer will display the 4 digits and leave the cell as a numeric value, my answer, which you would have had to put in a separate cell, converts the number to a text string, which might affect things.
