I have this formula in cell C501 =SUMIFS(H$2:H$490, $C$2:$C$490, $B501)

Column H represents the most current month. At the end of a month, I insert a new column between G and I, creating a new column H. I need the formula above to pull data from the new column H. Doing so changes the formula from this
=SUMIFS(H$2:H$490, $C$2:$C$490, $B501)
to this =SUMIFS(I$2:I$490, $C$2:$C$490, $B501)

I need it to stay focused on column H. I've tried this
=SUMIFS($H$2:$H$490, $C$2:$C$490, $B501) and the same thing happens, it changes to this =SUMIFS($I$2:$I$490, $C$2:$C$490, $B501)

How can I anchor the data to pull from column H as I'm adding a new one every month.

Thank you in advance

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
How about
Excel Formula:
=SUMIFS(INDEX($A$2:$H$490,,8), $C$2:$C$490, $B501)
