Database functions - when to use them (DSUM, DAVERAGE, DCOUNT)

Hi all

I was wondering if any of you experts could tell me when it would be useful to use database functions such as DSUM()?

I tend to use the usual SUMIFS(), SUMPRODUCT(), COUNTIFS() and various IF() array constructs to return data based on criteria, but I'm aware that I might be being inefficient or missing out on some powerful tools. Could you shed any light on when these database functions are most useful?
