I have a problem searching dates. I have created a proceedure in excel to search a database using a date inputted by the user.

I can carry out a search using the format(DD/MM/YYYY) however i cannot get the seach to carryout the search format(MM/YYYY).

I think the problem is down to the way the data is set in the database. If in access i set the date field to "DATE" then the search will not work if i set it to "TEXT" it does work

Does anybody have any ideas

Excel Facts

Test for Multiple Conditions in IF?
Use AND(test, test, test, test) or OR(test, test, test, ...) as the logical_test argument of IF.
You very well may want to check to see if your dates are set up as TEXT or as a date. When you are doing your search you want to keep in mind that the format really doesn't matter so much. When the search is done, Excel is looking at the raw data and NOT how the data is displayed. When submitting the value you want to have searched, it needs to be presented to Excel so that it knows what raw data you are looking for. Do what you can to get the search to work in one instance. For example, isolate one cell and do your search and try every combination of variances you can until you get the desired result. From there it is easier to find out what you need to fix.

A quick fix for your problem would be to copy all of the date data that you have. Then PASTE SPECIAL the values on top of it. Then you can do your search as if it were text that you were searching for.

I hope that this helps.
