I have a table in one of my sheets.
everything is formatted how I want.
whenever I add a new row the date columns turns back to MDY rather than DMY that's set for all other date cells.
my date format is set as locale English (Australia) that doesn't even have a MDY as an option???
is this a bug or am I missing something?
only having this issue with table not on the normal sheet.

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
table not on the normal sheet
Hi,

What exactly does that mean?

Also, which version of Excel are you using? (best to update your profile to show that, as it affects a lot of options for answers these days)

Sorry I meant in a table. No issues in a normal cell outside of the table.
Using excel 2019.

I have narrowed it down to only happening with 1 table. Appears to be the only one that has dates on it.

I created a new one and doesn't have that issue. Not sure if that's because I deleted the us language in my settings menu before creating the new table...

Have copied all the data over and appears to work now 🤷‍♂️

Solution

It sounds like you have inconsistent formatting applied to your tables. Try
• Select a cell in the date columns
• Format it as DMY (or select a cell that already had that)
• Ctrl+C
• Ctrl+spacebar to select all the rows
• PasteSpecial Format
Then add a row and see if the formating flows through to the new row.

Thanks I'll give that a try when I see the issue come up next.
