Hello,

I want to create a formula that removes characters from the left and right of Cell C6 in Sheet1:

The value of Cell C6 looks like this:

GOM67_Run09_01-27-11

I want to pretty much remove all the characters before the "n" and including the "n" and after the second underscore and including the second underscore. The result should look like this:

So far I have created this formula, but it is not working properly:

Some guess work here....

The last 8 characters looks like a date to me (September 27, 2011). If that is always true, or if at least there will always be 8 letters after the last underscore character, and if the characters you want to retrieve in front of the last underscore is always 2 characters long (the leading zero leads me to think this is so), then this formula would work...

=RIGHT(LEFT(A1,LEN(A1)-9),2)
