Deleting Error

Any idea what could cause this error?

I have a worksheet with a couple of long columns of data. When I highlight the columns and delete them, the program goes to the (Not Responding) mode and a new workbook opens up and I end up needing to restart everything.

It doesn't seem to make any sense -

Thanks -

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand
Maybe try setting the calculations to manual, delete the rows you need to delete and then set back to automatic calculations.

Sometimes with very big workbooks it just bogs down because it calculates after each column is deleted.

Calculations can be changed at Tools-->Options-->Calculation Tab.

F9 will also perform calculations while your sheet is set to manula and Shift+F9 will perform calculations on just the active sheet.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply -

I tried turning off the calculations and still have no luck -

The macros and worksheet used to work fine in the old excel but converting it to 2007 has been the problem -

any other suggestions?

Perhaps it's the macro's that is causing the problem, and not deleting columns...

Disable macros temporarily, save/close/repoen..

Can you delete columns now?
