Hello. :) I am looking for a way to delete a string of spaces in a cell without using the delete button over and over. I have many collumns of names which were downloaded into excel from another database. Along with the data however comes so much space (only after the name) that it becomes a problem. I was looking for a way to do a Find and Replace but do not know what character(s) to use. Any ideas are much appreciated!

Why does 9 mean SUM in SUBTOTAL?
It is because Sum is the 9th alphabetically in Average, Count, CountA, Max, Min, Product, StDev.S, StDev.P, Sum, VAR.S, VAR.P.

Have you looked at the TRIM or CLEAN worksheet functions?

Can you use the Trim function? ie =Trim(A1) removes all of the leading and trailing spaces from A1.

You can use the "Replace" tool found on your Edit tool bar to elimate all spaces in your selected area.
1. Goto Edit ....Replace... and click Replace... the Replace Window will appear.
2. Click on the "Find What " text box and then press your space bar once
3. DONT put anything in the "Replace With" text box... don't even enter it
4. Click on OK
