Hi

Can anyone help here.

I have a spreadsheet which has number stored as text and other cells which are real text strings for eg

A1

12345 ( number stored as text)
real text

What i want to do is filter and show only the cells where number is stored as text. i tried "istext" function, but all are text and all appear as true.

Appreciate any help here

thanks in advance

Excel Facts

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.
Try

=ISNUMBER(A1+0)
This will be TRUE for numbers stored as text (as well as actual real numbers)

Or ISERROR(A1+0)
This will be true for actual text strings

Hope that helps.

Try filtering with

=IFERROR(VALUE(A1), "ERROR") method..

this will print "ERROR" when it is text
and will print the value of A1 as number when it is number
