Some software when installed adds items to the excel menu bar namely a DDE (dynamic data exchange) software. Is there any way to disable the excel part so the software does not initialize when excel is started? It’s interfering with another DDE software and the only way to remove the interference it is to uninstall the software. Is this is a macro that starts with excel? I thought it could be in an excel ini file.

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)

jimbo773,

Sounds like there is an add-in that starts up.

Check if You can deactivate it via Tools | Add-ins (unchecking it).

If it´s not available here then check the XLStart-folder.
