display formula in a cell instead of the result

goto TOOLS>OPTIONS and select the VIEW tab, then tick the box for formulas in the bottom left corner

to display all formulas
menu tools/options: tab display (first tab): check "formulas"

for a single formula: add a quote before it

You can use Ctrl+` to alternate between displaying cell values and displaying cell formulas.
