I have a cell that is hyperlinked to a worksheet in the same workbook. I want to also display the the tab name in a cell. The tab name changes every week and I don't want to have to change it on both the tab and the cell that references it. I want to change the tab and then it will automatically update the cell that references it.

I'm using Excel 2007.

Thanks for any help.

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
Put this formula in a cell of your choice:

=REPLACE(CELL("filename",A1),1,FIND("]",CELL("filename",A1)),"")

Change the A1 to whatever cell you put this formula in.

Wow...you are good...and fast! Thanks, this worked great except that my cell that displays the reference is sheet 1 and I need to reference another sheet. My sheet one is like the table of contents (menu) or summary and then each sheet has the detail.

I was able to accomplish what I needed by using your formula pasted (out of site) into each sheet, then linked to each pasted formula from my menu sheet.
Thanks very much, this really helped me out.
