My boss has asked me to create a data validation dropdown cell that auto fills. I know i can achieve this by placing the list of items directly above the cell that I want to autofill.
But, he also wants it to shortcut so the user doesnt need to type all the letters before it autofills.

eg;
if my list contains the words "accelerated weekly" and "accelerated monthly" the user would have to type the letters "accelerated w". Excel would not make a distiction until the user had typed all the way to the "w"

So he would like to have a shortcut like "aw" or "am"
anything to aviod having to use the mouse.
I have seen dropdowns in websites that function this way.
Any comments???

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
