Is there a way to get excel97 to recognize the difference between empty cells and cells with value zero? All my empty cells reference as zero and that is not cool.

Thanks.

Prevent GETPIVOTDATA. Select inside a PivotTable. In the Analyze tab of the ribbon, open the dropown next to Options and turn it off
I don't know the reason you need this, but one way is to check if the cell is empty...

=If(A1="","A1 is Empty",A1)

basically, im checking for gaps in information (weekends=no production) and i want to skip over the empty spaces but account for zeros (workdays=production, no volume). since excel considered the empty spaces to have a value of zero, it was skipping to the wrong cells.

thanks Juan, this looks like it should do the trick!
