error message

each time I bring up an excel spreadsheet I receive an error message stating (abc.xls') is already open. You cannot open two documents with the same name, even if the documents are in different folders. To open the second document, either close the document that's currenlty open, or rename one of the documents. I enter ok and am able to proceed. Why is this occuring and what can I do to fix it???

is abc.xls the REAL name... some names Excel is already using... such as personal.xls
