We have a shared Excel file located on a network drive that is approxiamtely 3.8 MB in size.

If I use windows explorer I can cut/copy/paste that file just fine to/from the network share.

If I open the file directly in excel it opens fine, however when I go to save the file in excel it hangs for several minutes and then gives a delayed write failed message and will not complete the save. I have scoured the forums/message boards/Microsoft articles and everything I have tried does not work.

I have tried:
- Using a shortcut instead of a network drive to the folder containing the excel file
- Disabling write caching on both drives (Mine and Network)
- Disabling features in Symantec endpoint security
- Hotfix from Microsoft
- updating service packs for win XP and Office on both machines
- Changing both nics to 100 full duplex
- Moving the network drive to a linux machine on the network running Samba

Does anyone know what can be done if antyhing?
