I have saved a file in Excel 2010 (as a .xlsm) that is meant to be shared by others on a network. When others open it, it is read-only. It also says it is in compatibility mode. I can't find anything in the file to suggest why. Any ideas?

Excel Facts

Can a formula spear through sheets?
Use =SUM(January:December!E7) to sum E7 on all of the sheets from January through December

Do you also have the file open? Have others check their macro settings:

File-->Options-->Trust Center-->Trust Center Settings-->Macros

As far as compatibility, do they not have 2007 or 2010 on their computer? That is most likely the reason.

Thanks for your response TC88.

- I don't have the file open at the same time

- there are no macros in the file (even though it's macro-enabled) but I will check their Trust Center Settings

- they all have 2010 - result of new pcs/office 2010 roll-out
