In an attempt to shore up my skills and ehnace my library I am about to purchase some books:

• Excel 2007 VBA Programming for Dummies
• VBA and Macros for Microsoft Excel 2007
• Excel 2007 Charts

I am currently running Excel 2003 at home and work. Will I be able to apply some of what I learn with these books using my current environment? I anticipate upgrading to 2007 during the next year so I would prefer not to purchase the older versions of the books in question.

Also, which do you recommend:
• Microsoft Office Excel 2007 Formulas & Functions For Dummies or
• Excel 2007 Formulas

I greatly appreciate all of your feedback.

Thanks!

Dear Taino, I would like you to know that excel is excel, 2003, 2007, 2090 ! the formulas are as they are, but there are some enhancments on the selection of it, the interface is somewhat elegant, but not helpful like 2003:p, you dont need to buy all of these books, just one or two...as you'll find them all similar.;)

Hi,

I have 4 books on my desk:

Excel 2003 Bible - John Walkenbach
Excel VBA Programming For Dummies - John Walkenbach
Excel 2003 Power Programming With VBA - John Walkenbach
Pivot Table Data Crunching - Bill Jelen (aka Mr Excel) and Mike Alexander

I've found them all excellent and very useful over the last couple of years and supplemented by a host of websites have generally given me all the info I've needed.

As far as different versions I've upgraded to 2007 at home but have felt no desire to update my library. If you're buying for the first time you may as well go for the latest versions as long as you are aware what functions are not available in earlier ones of Excel as for the time being the majority of spreadsheets you design I guess will need to be fully compatible with 2003 if not earlier.
