I have a large spreadsheet. When I copied and pasted formulas down over the spreadsheet I got the following message "Excel cannot complete this task with available resources".

Interestingly after that the sheet updated much faster. Does anyone know exactly what settings this error message changes? I need the seetings for another similar spreadsheet.

Many thanks
Danny

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
Hi Danny

Shot in the dark here, but do these formulas contain links to external workbooks? If so then it is due to Tools>Options>Calculation tab and uncheck "Save external link values".

Thanks for your reply Richard,

Infact there are no links to other spreadsheets. its is a large spreadsheet over 100k rows. the the formulas are pretty memory intensive (if and match formulas). When I try to copy the formulas down over the spreadsheet in normal conditions it takes hours, but after the error message it was done in a matter of seconds

cheers
Danny
