Help! I have a work spreadsheet which uses a lot of formulas to auto-populate payroll categories based on job codes. The problem I am having is that for the last two weeks the sheet if running super slow. I have tried to go back to a previous sheet, same issue. I have removed all volatile formulas, small improvement but not much. I can't make any of the formulas static as I use them all. There are roughly 2200 formulas. They are mostly nested if formulas.

Is my sheet slow due to the number of formulas? What can I do to speed it up? Could it be corrupt and if so how do I fix it? Thank you in advance.

Excel Facts

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
Sorry I checked the number of formulas again and its closer to 6200!

Couple of questions
1. how big is the file ?
2. Do the formulas cover entire columns or only the areas of used data ?
3. If you do a CTRL + End, where does the cursor take you ??

1. The file is 542 KB
2. The formulas only cover areas of used data
3. I made sure that CTRL + End takes me only to the end of my data and it does. I got rid of all the rest

Are there multiple sheets in the workbook ??
Has there been any updates or addins lately to your computer ??
Can you upload the workbook to a hosting site, dropbox for instance, so we can test it

1. I changed it so that there was only one sheet
2. I don't know but I am pretty sure all addins are disabled

I populated columns "C", "D" and "E" for about 300 rows and it worked OK for me.
How does it run with ALL the filters turned off ?
Do you really need filters on EVERY column ?

Also try turning off auto calculation. Input all your data then press F9 rather than calculating constantly.

I will try that.

The main issue is when you try to insert a new row or column or try to copy and paste things. The formulas work fine. Can you try copy/pasting and inserting/deleting rows please?
