I have prepared a dashboard which contains about 50+ shapes and 25+ images linked with formulas to derive values from other sheets in the same file.

I have noticed that overall excel working has become very slow, like scrolling, and moving from one cell to another cell, typing any value and pressing enter etc.

If i remove about half of the images/shapes, excel again works with proper speed.

Even when dashboard file is open, other blank workbook also becomes slow. So it sees that the issue is with images and not the file. Even file size is less than 5 MB.

Requesting members to help me resolve the issue.

Using Excel 365 on desktop on Win10.

Whats the difference between CONCAT and CONCATENATE?
The newer CONCAT function can reference a range of cells. =CONCATENATE(A1,A2,A3,A4,A5) becomes =CONCAT(A1:A5)

Generally Excel speed is dependent on how many background calculations it is performing simultaneously...

So I believe, it's not just about images but also about what automated actions they might be linked too...

Have you ever noticed "Calculating(4 threads)..%" kind of thing in the lower right corner of the status bar when it's performing slow?

thanks for the reply, I have noticed (threads%) while excel is performing large calculations.
However in my file, I have given simple formula in the images that derive value from a cell, no complicated calculations / big formulas are involved.
And more surprising thing is that other open excel files, even blank workbook becomes slow.

And as soon as I remove about half of the images, everything runs as usual. I have also checked deleting single images one by one to check if any particular image is causing issue, but could not reach any solution. Only thing I could conclude is that too many images seem to be causing the issue.

In one of the recent posts me and some Expert (missing his name) discussed that such slow downs are caused by multiple lookups or Indirect formulae used in a file. There must be few more to the list that can cause such slow down...

Look for any such clues in your file. 5 MB these days is a very small file size. Slowing of system could be caused by background calculations.
