Hey Guys

I`m trying to export my days trades into excel to track my performance.
From my trading platform, Interactive brokers, I can export my trades to plot them into excel. But, I`m unsure how to do it.

Another user of IB has connected IB to excel and has real time data to track performance.
Would be awesome if someone can give me the heads up how to input this to excel.

Cheers

It can be done.

IB provides an activeX library that you can use to do everything from creating tickers (much better than DDE) to performing trades, backtesting, ect... It's fairly extensive. I have used it to create several ATS. Go to their website, download and install the COM/ActiveX library and we can go from there... They have a forum at IB that will give you much more information than you are typically going to get from an Office based website. You are not going to find many people here who know much about this.

Hi Tom

Are you available to go through the steps of setting up a dynamic input from TWS to excel?
I`ve tried the IB forum, but have not recieved a reply to my query.

Sure. What do you need first? I don't have any of the installed components or applications on this system but I do have, I believe, my project files...

Ok great.

All I have is TWS, for the API link up and executed trades. Then excel to chart the trades, dynamic versus static. As real time charting of the executed trades is the whole idea of why I want to graph my performance.

I must inform you, that mediocre would be an under statement of my experience with API and excel:)

<i>"that mediocre would be an under statement of my experience"</i>

Become aquainted with the help files! They are not the best but with some trial and error and some more error, you should be ok. :) The complicated part is the actual trading...

Give me something to begin with. Is all you need for the moment some ticker data streaming into Excel?

Also, if it meets your needs, a quote from their website...

" For traders with little or no programming experience, we recommend the DDE for Excel platform, as Excel offers a familiar and user-friendly interface and the DDE API is seamlessly integrated into the Excel application."
