I am looking for a formula that will automatically tell me the date of the next Friday based upon the day I open the spreadsheet. I am sure there is a way, I just have not figured out the logic.

Example: I open a spreadsheet today (1/06/10) and I want the result in the cell to be 1/8/10. If I open the spreadsheet on 1/19/10, I want the result to be 1/22/10.

Thanks in advance for any help

Which Excel functions can ignore hidden rows?
The SUBTOTAL and AGGREGATE functions ignore hidden rows. AGGREGATE can also exclude error cells and more.
Try

=TODAY()+7-WEEKDAY(TODAY()+1)

on a Friday that will give that day's date, is that what you need?

This is a common question and there are numerous approaches. Here is one Formula approach.
Code:
=TODAY()+CHOOSE(WEEKDAY(TODAY()),5,4,3,2,1,0,6)
But Barry's formula is better
